Spirituality at Dunchurch
“Encourage one another and build one another up”
(1 Thessalonians 5:11).
Together we are stronger
At Dunchurch, we use the analogy of ‘The Golden Glue’ to understand
Spirituality – this fits with our theologically rooted vison and context.
Life is full of wows, ows and nows and they make us who we are. We will get ‘broken’ but can be repaired and accept the broken bits as part of what makes us, us.
Everyone one will respond differently to WOW, OW and NOW moments, therefore making each crack unique to us as individuals.
This is how we develop our very own sense of self, soul, personality and character.
Our Own Unique Spiritual Journey.
What does kintsugi mean spiritually?
Kintsugi, an art form that repairs broken objects with gold or precious metals, aligns with the spiritual interpretations of broken glass. It embodies the idea that embracing imperfections and scars can result in something more beautiful and valuable.
WOWs, OWs and NOWs
Wow moments
These are the awe and wonder moments. The times when you want to breathe in and capture the feeling, holding onto it as long as you can.
Ow moments
These are the blows life can bring.
They can knock the breath out of you.
Now moment
These are the everyday ordinary times: being able to be present in the moment,
being open and receptive to life, because God is not just for emergencies!
We help each other to recognise these moments in life and to reflect on events that make us who we are.
